In the Florida State Prison near Starke, John Blackwelder, 49, executed. Blackwelder was condemned for the 2000 killing of his cell mate, Raymond Wigley. Blackwelder, who was serving a life sentence for a 1998 rape of a 10 years old boy, said he intentionally killed Wigley because he had no intention of living his whole life in prison. Blackwelder has alwais claimed to be innocent of the boy's rape. He becomes the 2th condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Florida, and the 26th in the USA.
