It is the second ever pronouncement of capital punishment in the Tamil Nadu district and the first in the past three decades. Sessions' Judge Jafarullah Khan found Rajesh guilty under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code of murdering his father Dasaiah, his father’s third wife Bhagyam and his grandmother Gnanambal. The incident took place in April 6, 2006, in Kapisthalam, 300 km south of Chennai. Though the death sentence has been pronounced, it may take several years for appeals in higher courts and clemency petitions to the president.
