A lorry driver was sentenced to death by the High Court in Bernama, Malaysia, for trafficking in 874.5gm of cannabis. Dzulkifli Ismail, 35, was found guilty of committing the offence at a house in Kampug Kuala Kapak, Padang Kijang, Bukit Panau, Tanah Merah on Aug 6 2001. He was charged under Section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same Act, which carries the mandatory death sentence on conviction.
