A mail bomb designer in east China was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve by a local court.
According to the ruling made by the Intermediate People's Court of Lianyungang City in east China's Jiangsu Province, Ding Xuncheng became the first in the province to be convicted and sentenced for this type of crime.
In 1998, Ding discovered that his wife had an affair with police officer Liu Cheng and decided to take revenge. He packaged a bomb and sent it through a local post office on November 5, 1998.
Mail staff failed to check the package and delivered it to Liu Cheng on November 16, 1998. The bomb exploded and Liu's right eye, ears, face and right arm were seriously damaged.
