An extortionist who set off a home-made bomb in a supermarket in China and wounded 27 shoppers was sentenced to death by a court in the northern city of Datong.Feng Jun, 25, was found guilty of setting off the explosion and of blackmail by the Datong Intermediate People's Court on August 27, less than a month after the crime, the semi-official China News Service said.Feng, a worker at a local mining corporation, placed a home-made time bomb in the crowded supermarket on August 1. He was captured three days later, when making telephone calls to local restaurants demanding money.Explosives are easy to obtain in China, and in recent years have been used increasingly by gangs and individual criminals.
