A Pakistani court rejected the appeal of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif against his conviction for hijacking, court officials said. But a three-judge bench of the High Court of Sindh province, where Karachi is the capital, also rejected a government appeal to turn Sharif's life imprisonment to a death sentence. The court also rejected another appeal by the prosecutor against the acquittal in the same case of six of Sharif's allies.
