A person sentenced for murder has caused the end of another person's life but the killer could be used to help make reparation, said Bishop Peter Fox. The Anglican Bishop of Port Moresby said this as he spoke against capital punishment as a panelist at a one-day seminar organised by the British High Commission in Papua New Guinea. The principle of an eye for an eye (and) a tooth for a tooth (or) a life for a life still has its place in this debate, Bishop Fox said. A life for a life is not necessarily the same thing as a death for a life . The person sentenced for murder has caused the end of another's life but this could mean that his own life has to be used in a way that helps make reparation, the murderer's free use of his life can be taken from him and perhaps put to a purpose which will benefit society, Fox added.
