A policeman in central China's Anhui province, identified only by his surname Dai, was executed after being convicted of strangling his mistress to death, state press reported.
The policeman was the former head of the Foziling precinct in Anhui's Huo county, Xinhua news agency reported.
He was convicted of the November 2002 murder of his lover, whom he had met in a local dance hall and who was pestering him for money as Dai tried to break up the relationship, the report said.
Following the murder Dai cut up the body and scattered it in a local river, it said. He then fled to neighbouring Jiangsu province where he was arrested in April.
The report did not say when Dai was executed, only saying "recently."
