A poll in the UK revealed that 59 percent of those questioned supported Saddam being tried by a court in Iraq, while 29 percent said the United Nations should deal with him. Fifty percent said the former Iraqi leader should be given the death penalty, according to the survey by the ICM institute for the New Frontiers Foundation. But 38 percent of those taking part in the poll said they opposed the death penalty for Saddam, who was captured in Iraq by US forces late on December 13.
