A railway court in Shanghai sentenced Zhao Xianhui, a farmer from southwest China's Yunnan Province, to death with two years' probation. He was found guilty of smuggling drugs from neighbouring Myanmar to China with four other accomplices, who were sentenced to 15 years in prison. On August 14 last year, Zhao and the four men put 699.8 grams of heroin packed in condoms and concealed them in their anus. Two other farmers from southwest China's Guizhou Province, Feng Meng and Luo Diwen, were found taking drugs and carrying 591.5 grams of drugs on a train from Kunming to Shanghai on November 29, 1999. The previous week, they had been sentenced to death for transporting drugs.
