A record 221 million shilling [about 2
A record 221 million shilling [about 2.8m dollar] court action was lodged in the High Court against the Kenya government by the families of six death row inmates murdered at King'ong'o prison [central Kenya].
The action follows a landmark ruling by a Nairobi court which concluded after months of an inquest hearing, that the six inmates were murdered by prison officers at Nyeri prison.
According to papers filed by city lawyer Mbugua Mureithi representing the families, 221.5 million is the amount of compensation being sought for the murder. The families further seek 11,450,000 shillings as fees and expenses incurred.
