A Reuters/Zogby poll found that 75 % of respondents favoured the death penalty, while 22 % said they were against executions in all circumstances. But the survey of 754 voters, conducted April 23-25, found 32 % supported executions only for extreme crimes like multiple murders and crimes against humanity. Twenty two percent said they supported executions for anyone convicted of premeditated murder; an identical number expressed opposition to capital punishment in principle while 21 percent would extend the use of the death penalty to other crimes like rape and drug trafficking.
