A Rwandan court acquitted the Roman Catholic bishop Augustin Misago of genocide charges, ruling he played no part in the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of ethnic Tutsis in 1994. "It is a reaction of joy and I am extremely happy that justice and truth have triumphed," Misago said moments after the verdict was read out. The Roman Catholic Church welcomed the acquittal Bishop Misago.
