A Special Police Constable attached to Kikooge Police...

A Special Police Constable attached to Kikooge Police Post in Uganda's Nakasongola district was sentenced to death for murder.
High Court judge in Kampala, Justice Musoke Kibuuka convicted Charles Rwanyaga after finding him guilty of murdering George Kidega on the night of February 5, 2000.
Kidega was a fish dealer at Kikooge landing site in Nakasongola.
Prosecution said during the trial that Rwanyaga went to the deceased's shop that night and asked him a graduated tax ticket. The deceased presented the tax ticket to him. It was said that Rwanyaga later called Kidega out in the darkness and took him to a distance away where he shot him.
Justice Kibuuka said prosecution witnesses had adduced evidence to prove the convict had a prior intention to kill the deceased.
The postmortem showed Kidega died as a result of excessive bleeding from the head and chest. It also showed the deceased was shot at close range.
