A Speedy Trial Court in Dhaka, Bangladesh, sentenced five people to death and two others to life imprisonment for killing two brothers, Mizanur Rahman and Ziaur Rahman, in the city's Mirpur Shewrapara district on November 1, 2001. Those sentenced to death were Anwar Hossain alias Dhuku, Amzad Hossain alias Mintu, Rubel, Sarwar Hossain Alias Mithu and Rashidul Haq alias Chanchal, two others were sentenced to life imprisonment. It was alleged the two were killed because they refused to pay extortion money to the accused.
