a speedy trial tribunal, in Bangladesh, sentenced two leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League's Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute unit to death for murdering a Chhatra Moitree leader in 2010. Judge of the tribunal Ekramul Haque Chowdhury also sentenced five other accused in the case to life and three others to 10 years in prison for murdering the leftist student leader, Rezwanul Islam Chowdhury Sunny. Those ordered to walk to gallows are pro-Awami League BCL's Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute unit former President Nizam Hossain and General Secretary Saddam Tushar. They were also fined Tk 50,000 each. Accused Shariful Islam, Nazmul Huda Nabin and Nahid Sarwar were freed as the charges against them were not proved. All the accused were produced before the tribunal. Sunny, the vice-president of Chhatra Moitree's Rajshahi Polytechnic Institute unit, had been killed on Jan 7, 2010.
