A Tajik citizen, Akram Yusupov, 36, was arrested by Bashkortostan (Russia) Interior Ministry staff. He had been hiding for over a year from Tajik law-enforcement bodies that had put him on the international wanted list. The Tajik Interior Ministry's directorate for Leninobod Region had charged Yusupov with illegal possession and sales of arms. He is also believed to have participated in hostilities on the side of bandit groups that attempted to conduct an overthrow of the current Tajik authorities. Bashkortostan authorities were going to extradite Yusupov to Tajikistan. Yusupov could be charged with organizing a mutiny and sentenced to death.
