A taxi driver and his girlfriend were sentenced to death by a Malaysian High Court after they were convicted of trafficking in 26.85 grams of drugs.
The court ruled that the prosecution had proven the case against Chew Song King, 39, from Sitiawan, Perak, and Wong Mei Nan, 32, from Subang Jaya, Selangor, beyond any resonable doubt.
"I find the two accused guilty of the charge they are accused of. I therefore impose the death sentence on them," said Justice Datuk Abdul Wahab Patail.
The defendants were charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which provides for the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
