A top Iranian cleric called for the trial and execution of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon for alleged war crimes against Palestinians.
Ayatollah Ali Meshkini, head of the Experts Assembly that elects and supervises Iran's supreme leader, said that opening any talks with Israel was like attempting to talk with a "wolf attacking a sheep."
"We consider Sharon a war criminal who must be tried and executed. Response to an attacking wolf is not talks but bullet," Meshkini said, according to AP.
Meshkini was speaking at a formal session of the Experts assembly called to exchange views on domestic and foreign issues.
