A woman convicted of trafficking some 200 babies was executed, state press said. Li Guoju was after having been convicted in April by a court in central China's Henan province of organising a gang which trafficked the babies, the Xinhua news agency said. She was personally responsible for trafficking 76 babies, the report said. Some 60 others in her gang were convicted in the same case, with several sentenced to death or life imprisonment in separate trials. The gang was guilty of buying baby girls in impoverished regions in southern Guangxi province and selling them in Shandong and Henan provinces between August 1998 and March 2003, it said. The gang was exposed when police discovered more than two dozen drugged infants in travel bags aboard a long distance bus in southern Guangxi in March 2003.
