According to a CVVM agency poll almost two-thirds of Czechs believe that the Czech Republic should reinstate the death penalty and one-third believe that all murderers should receive it. Three percent said that drunk drivers who cause an accident resulting in someone's death and rapists should also receive the death penalty. One percent said that anyone who deliberately seriously harms another adult should also receive the death penalty, the poll said. A total of 31 percent of respondents said that the death penalty should definitely exist while 32 percent said that it should probably exist. 21 percent said that it should probably not exist and 10 percent said that it should definitely not exist. 6 percent said they were unsure. Murderers should receive the death penalty according to 33 percent of those polled and 29 percent said that they deserve life in prison while 14 percent said that they should serve terms of more than 21 years.
