Sadek Hossain, 42, was sentenced to death by the Acid Crime Prevention Tribunal in Dhaka for throwing acid on on Sudhir Ranjan Ghotok, a senior advocate of Dhaka district court.
The tribunal also fined Sadek Hossain Taka one Lakh as compensation and directed the deputy commissioner to obtain the money from him as per law and pay it to the victim immediately.
Lawyer Ghotok and his two daughters Manisa and Kajal along with a fellow lawyer Zahirul Islam received serious burn injuries as the accused threw acid on them at his Zigatola residence on October 7, 2002.
The acid thrown on Ghotok left him completely deaf and blind as well as leaving large permanent scars on his face.
