Additional District and Sessions Judge Biplob Goshwami sentenced Dulal Mridha, 35, to death by hanging for killing his wife, Piara Begum, over a dowry dispute on May 12, 1998 and burying the body behind his house. The murder was perpetrated in the Sadar thana of Dharandi, and reported by Begum's father Abdul Majid of the neighbouring Char Moishadi village.
