Taliban´s supreme leader Mulla Mohammad Omar issued a decree of ban on conversion from Islam. The Taliban´s official Radio Shariah announced that if a Muslim Afghan converts to Christianity or accepts these obsolete religions or is seen calling other people to Christianity or Judaism or making propaganda in favour of other religions or distributing its books or ideological publications he will be sentenced to death. Taliban´s Minister of Religious Affairs Qudratullah Jamal said the decree was a precautionary measure against people leading Afghans away from Islam with offers of money.
