The African conference on the death penalty will start on July 2nd in Cotonou (Benin). It is organized by the Government of Benin and the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights, in partnership with Hands Off Cain and the Nonviolent Radical Party Transantional and Transparty. These organizations will be represented by Sen. Marco Perduca. Goals of the conference are to raise awareness among African countries to increase support for the new Resolution for a universal moratorium on executions at the next UN General Assembly and to encourage the adoption of an additional African Protocol for the abolition of the death penalty.
