Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh's father, Ahmed Sheikh, said that he expected such a verdict after his son was sentenced to death for murdering US journalist Daniel Pearl.
"When the president says that he wants the death sentence for Omar what else was to be expected," he said. "An innocent man has been punished because [President Gen. Pervez] Musharraf wanted his conviction."
British-born militant Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh threatened retaliation
"We'll see who will die first, me or those who are arranging for my death," lawyer Rai Basheer quoted Sheikh Omar as saying in a chilling message. "The war between Islam and kafirs (non-Muslims) is going on and everybody should show whether he is in favour of Islam or in favour of kafirs," the statement added.
"I always said that all these legal proceedings are a waste of time. But I participated in them because my father wished me to do so," he said.
Sheikh warned President Gen. Pervez Musharraf that "he would not escape the revenge of Almighty Allah".
Shah, the judge, said in his verdict that Sheikh "had engineered the entire plan of creating sense of fear nationally and internationally."
Police are hunting for seven more suspects, including those who killed Pearl and filmed the gory incident.
