Alfonso Ignacio Morales, 23, was sentenced to die, becoming the 7th person this year in California to be subjected to the death penalty.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael A. Cowell imposed the death penalty in Norwalk this morning.
The victims, last year, were Miguel Ruiz, 38; his wife, Maritza Trejo, 41; their 8-year-old daughter, Jasmin; and Ruiz's grandmother, Ana Luisa Martinez, 79.
A Los Angeles County jury convicted Morales in April of fatally stabbing the adults and sexually assaulting and drowning the youth. In May, jurors recommended that Morales be put to death.
