Also in March, a trader from Côte d'Ivoire was sentenced to hang for drug trafficking in Malaysia. Kouame Koffi Francis, 35, was found guilty under the Dangerous Drugs Act for having more than 1.3kg of heroin near the Malaysian-Thai border on December 29, 1997. The court was told Francis had hidden the drug inside his shoes.
