Amjad Javed, convicted of raping and murdering a 9-year-old girl named Kiran Shahzadi in 2000, was executed

Amjad Javed, convicted of raping and murdering a 9-year-old girl named Kiran Shahzadi in 2000, was executed in Kot Lakhpat Jail, Pakistan.
It was alleged that Allah Rakha Rehmani, a labourer in Sheikhupura, hired Amjad Javed as a teacher for two children, Salman and Kiran. Upon arriving to Amjad’s house on February 29, 2000, he raped and murdered Kiran and chopped up her body.
After investigations, the police arrested Amjad, who confessed to the rape and murder.
He was sentenced to death by an anti-terrorism court, the sentence was upheld by the Lahore High Court in 2001 and also by the Supreme Court in 2002. President General Pervez Musharraf also rejected the convict’s clemency appeal in 2005.   On February 8, the convict’s last meeting was arranged with his family during which he appealed for a compromise with the victims’ family. He was executed at 6:30am.
