Amnesty International has called on authorities in Fiji to prosecute those who suppressed the military mutiny in November 2000, as well as those who staged it. It has also called on the Fiji government to remove the death penalty from military law - a sentence the head of the court martial said was and should be available even though his court sentenced Capt Stevens to life imprisonment, not death.
