An alleged anti-abortion killer was deported from France to the US to face trial for murder. James Kopp, 47, is wanted by the FBI for allegedly killing a gynaecologist in a sniper-style shooting in 1998. Doctor Barnett Slepian was shot from his garden in Buffalo while he chatted to his children in the family kitchen.
Kopp was arrested in Dinan, western France, in March 2001 after more than two years on the run. He was deported after finally giving up the fight against an extradition order.
A French court only recommended he be sent to America after assurances he would not receive the death penalty, which is banned in France.
