Zafar Iqbal, Shaukat Ali, Ali Akbar and Munir Ahmed were arrested on charges of kidnapping workshop owner Muhammad Aslam Lodhi and five others on January 1, 2004. According to prosecution, the accused detained their employer and five others employees in the Bilal Colony area in Karachi and demanded Rs. 500,000 as ransom for their release. Police later arrested the accused and released the abductees. The ransom money was also recovered.
