An armed Afghan bandit, sentenced to death for clashes with Iranian police and carrying narcotics, was hanged in the northeastern city of Sabzevar in Iran's Khorasan Province.
The Jam-e Jam newspaper identified him as Ahmad Samanzehi, saying he had earlier fled arrest after clashes with security forces. Police recently rounded him up in the city of Kashmar and confiscated 60 kg of opium and morphine from him, it added.
