An Egyptian criminal court sentenced a Russian man of Lebanese origin to death for smuggling cocaine into Egypt from Russia, judicial sources said.
They said three others - a Lebanese man and two from Egypt - were sentenced to 25 years in jail with hard labour for drug dealing.
The sources said the Russian, Mustafa Hussein Ahmed, and the other three were arrested at a central Cairo hotel with about one kg (2.2 lbs) of cocaine.
The death sentence, by hanging, can be appealed and has been approved by the religious authorities, the sources added.
