ARMENIA. DEATH PENALTY IS STATE'S MAJOR CRIME, OMBUDSWOMAN

Armenian Ombudswoman Larissa Alaverdyan, speaking at a session held by the Expert Council dealing with motions by people sentenced to life imprisonment, said she viewed the death penalty as the state's major crime. She recalled the fact that many European countries had abolished capital punishment.
