Assessing his government's performance in the previous two years, Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit said the government had made significant accomplishments against the separatist, anti-secularist and anti-democratic forces. Speaking about the government's activities towards democratisation and the development of human rights, Ecevit said that other than a number of crimes which are excluded, the death penalties given for crimes committed before April 23, 1999 were cancelled and ten years were deducted from the prison sentences.
