At least 14 more criminals have been executed, in keeping with the mainland tradition of getting tough on crime before key holidays, like the National Day. Twelve murderers in the province of Henan were executed the previous week, two of them in the provincial capital, Zhengzhou, and the other 10 in the town of Xuchang. Two women were also executed in the Guangxi province. One, 26, murdered her three children and mother-in-law during a family row; the other, 36, murdered her husband after finding out he had a mistress.
