AUSTRALIA: COUNTRIES URGED TO ABOLISH DEATH PENALTY

the Commonwealth Lawyers Association of Australia wants the death sentence abolished in areas that still use it. The association passed three resolutions calling for the changes after its conference in Hong Kong. The association asked the secretary general of the Commonwealth to start a working group to consult member countries. The conference was attended by a number of high ranking judges.
