Australian Prime Minister John Howard said executing Saddam Hussein won't make him a martyr and backed the death penalty for the former dictator - if that's what the Iraqi people wanted. But he said he did not believe putting Saddam to death would turn him into a martyr to the terrorist cause. "People always say that when you are faced with the capital punishment issue," Mr Howard told Melbourne radio 3AW.
