Ayub Shah Bani Shah and Othman Ghani Mehrab Khan, two Pakistani nationals found guilty of smuggling heroin and hashish, were executed by hanging in front of the interior ministry in Kuwait City before dozens of spectators were allowed to view their limp bodies. The pair were arrested in separate incidents and were sentenced to death in September 2003. Senior police and judicial officials attended the execution, the first this year but the seventh since June 2002 in which the public was allowed to view the corpses.
