BAHAMAS: MURDER ACCUSED FIGHTS DEATH SENTENCE

a man convicted of killing his lover in Grand Bahama appeared in the Court of Appeal in a bid to overturn his death sentence handed down by a Supreme Court judge. Cordell Farrington was convicted of the 2002 murder of Jamal Robbins. In August, Justice Anita Allen sentenced him to death. Farrington is also scheduled to stand trial for the murders of four boys who went missing in Grand Bahama in 2003. Farrington’s attorney, Wayne Munroe, argued that the trial judge did not take into consideration the fact that his client turned himself in, confessed to the crime and led police to certain evidence, which he submitted was a sign he was remorseful. Mr Munroe also argued that Justice Allen did not take into account that his client suffered from a personality disorder and Farrington had a history of sexual abuse by a relative.
