Chile, Ecuador and Mexico have confirmed their support for the UN initiative for a moratorium on capital punishment, in view of its abolition. Chilean President Michelle Bachelet confirmed that he will co-sponsor the pro-Moratorium resolution during a press conference with Premier Romano Prodi, at the end of a meeting between the two at Villa Pamphili in Rome.
