The District and Sessions Court in Barguna awarded capital punishment to Shamim, 30, of Zamirtala village in Patharghata upazila for killing his wife on May 4, 2006, and fined him Tk 25,000. In Kustia, Sanwar Hossain of Chanpaigachhi village was sentenced to death by District and Sessions Judge Abu Saleh Mohammad Salauddin for killing his wife following a family feud on May 10, 2008.
