USA - Arizona. A jury sentenced Pete Van Winkle to death

A Maricopa County jury sentenced Pete Van Winkle to death for the May 2008 murder of a fellow inmate, Robert Cotton, 27, in the Fourth Avenue Jail. Van Winkle, 27, a white supremacist, was caught on surveillance tape as he beat and strangled Cotton to death. Judge Paul McMurdie also sentenced Van Winkle to 22 years in prison for lesser crimes.
