A court in Gopalganj on 26 October 2021 convicted five people and sentenced them to death in a businessman murder case.
A court in Gopalganj on 26 October 2021 convicted five people and sentenced them to death in a businessman murder case.
The condemned convicts are Fakkar Sheikh, and Md Mehedi Hasan Sheikh, residents of Bhattacharya Kandi village; Sumon Saha, and Md Kawser Fakir of Gohala village; and Al-Amin Molla of Shrijitpur village in Muksudpur upazila. They all are fugitive.
The verdict was handed down by Additional Sessions Judge Md Abbas Uddin.
The judge also fined them Tk 50000 each.
The case statement said the condemned convicts hacked Dulal Sheikh, a businessman in Muksudpur upazila, to death and dumped the body into Kumar River on the night of 2 June 2012.
On the following the day, police retrieved the body from the river.
Later, Dulal's wife Sultana Begum lodged a case with Muksudpur Police Station in this connection accusing five people.
