A Court in Bangladesh on 29 September 2020 sentenced Abdus Sattar, 55, to death for murder, Kurigram correspondent Ariful Islam reported citing Public Prosecutor Abraham Lincon.
Laili Khatun, 45, wife of Shamsul Haque, died in Rowmari upazila on 8 November 2010, after Sattar hit her with a shovel, according to the case details.
Sattar and his men were hijacking a shallow-engine run irrigation pump belonging to Laili's family over a previous rivalry. As Laili protested the incident, Sattar hit her with a shovel and she died later that night at the upazila hospital.
