BANGLADESH: MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR MURDER IN RAJSHAHI

a Bangladeshi court convicted a man of killing his sister three years ago and awarded him the death penalty. According to the prosecution, Abdur Rashid, of Jotnoshi village in Bagha Upazila, chopped his sister Firoza Begum to death following a brawl on November 9, 2004. After examining records and witnesses, judge Sajedul Karim of the Special Session Judge’s Court 1 handed down the verdict.
