The Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal acquitted two others involved in the case as their guilt was not proved. According to the prosecution, Mondol picked up Maleka Khatun from her house at Protappur village, Boraigram, on January 17, 2000. Maleka's body was found in a field at Rameshwarpur village the next day.
