BANGLADESH: MAN TO WALK GALLOWS, 2 GET LIFE TERM FOR MURDER

A court in Gazipur sentenced a man to death and two others to life term imprisonment for killing a girl in 2015.
The condemned convict is Ripon Mia, uncle of the victim and son of Hasmat Ali alias Hashem of Sreepur upazila while the lifers are Rabiul Islam, son of Md Rahim of Bogra and Mozaffar, son of Md Mostafa of Sherpur.
Of them, Rabiul and Mozaffar were in the dock and Ripon was tried in absentia.
According to the prosecution, the convicts slaughtered Nazmin, daughter of Akkas Ali to death at her grandfather’s house in Sreepur upazila, where she used to live with her mother, over land dispute on October 30 in 2015.
Deceased mother Asma Begum filed a case with Sreepur Police Station on that day.
Later, investigation officer of the case submitted charge against the accused.
After examining the records and witnesses, Gazipur District and Sessions Judge AKM Enamul Haque handed down the verdict.
