The judge handed down the death penalty to Mizan and Masud while the third convict, Kamal, remained at large. Prosecution said they abducted Asia Khatun on the evening of November 20, 2002. The abductors allegedly strangled her to death after gang rape. Her body was recovered from the nearby canal the following day.
